HISTORY

Company History

1947
Founder Lin Zhuwei relocated from Huwei, located in central Yunlin County, Taiwan, to Xichuan Mountain in Taimali Township, Taitung County.
1958
He founded “Sanwa-gyo” and began selling fruit, bonito flakes, and foodstuffs.
1971
He founded “Taisei-gyo.”
With a monthly production capacity of 600 tons of skipjack tuna, the company ranked first in exports of Taiwanese skipjack tuna to Japan for three consecutive years, earning him the nickname “The King of Taiwanese Bonito Flakes.”
At the time, seven partner factories specializing in rough bonito processing, located from northern to southern Taiwan, were dedicated to the production of bonito flakes.
1973
Established “Komi Seafood Processing Plant.”
Began exporting Taiwanese pineapples overseas, achieving an annual export volume of 7,500 tons (500,000 boxes) to Japan.
At the time, bamboo baskets were used for all pineapple packaging, but Lin Fu-dong (our company’s second-generation president) introduced cardboard packaging to Taiwan’s fruit industry, contributing to improved hygiene standards.
1975
Lin Fu-tung (our company’s second-generation president) was interviewed by a Japanese television station.
At the time, the company’s production volume of bonito flake products surpassed that of Japanese firms, leading Japanese media to dub Lin Fu-tung the “Bonito Flake Doctor.”
He was awarded the “Special Invention Award” (a grant of 500,000 yen).
He was selected as one of “Taiwan’s 10 Outstanding Young People.”
Since 1987
As catches in Taiwan declined, the production of bonito flakes shifted primarily to processed imports. At that time, the company was quick to establish factories overseas and strengthen its global expansion. Annual production of bonito products exceeds 3,000 tons.
1995
At the time, the company operated 13 factories overseas and employed more than 3,000 people.
It was a leading player in the Asian bonito flake manufacturing industry.

Since 2010

Shift to frozen products.
The main reasons for this shift include a decline in home cooking due to factors such as the declining birthrate, which has led to increased demand for dining out, as well as rising costs for raw materials and fuel, making traditional methods of producing bonito flakes no longer cost-effective.
Currently, the three major oceans—the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans—serve as the primary sources for fish procurement.
